Location
This position is required to work in person at various sites across the City. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide a range of supportive interventions for students who exhibit self-regulation, social, emotional, physical, and/or medical needs. Your leadership and ability to coach others is supported by cultural and ability sensitivity, and related experience supporting individuals with special needs.
In keeping with the goals of our corporate strategic plan and department business strategy, the Specialized Program Instructor – Behaviour & Inclusion Specialist - will be responsible for providing program support to participants in the City’s Summer Camp programs. Times and days may vary based on the program and participant requirements but is based on a day camp schedule with approximate hours of 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday during the months of July and August. This position reports to the Recreation Programmer. Travel within Burlington may be required of this position.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral needs in a variety of settings. Candidate will have experience coaching or teaching staff with demonstrated teamwork, organizational and planning skills, as is knowledge of current recreation trends. It is considered an asset to possess or be working towards a post-secondary diploma or degree as Educational Assistant, Child & Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Therapeutic Recreation or a related field of study. Other experience considered an asset includes training in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sign language, and assistive technology.
