Location
This position is required to work in person at various recreation and community centres throughout Burlington. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
The City of Burlington is currently accepting applications for Program Leaders, Program Instructors, and Specialized Programs Instructors who can offer instruction and/or skills in a variety of programs including:
Staff are supported by the Recreation Programmer and report to the Recreation Coordinator. Positions and schedules may vary based on program registrations and current public health guidelines.
Programs may vary in length from 1 hour to ½ day workshops and may reoccur weekly or run as a stand-alone experience. Hours worked may vary from 0-27.5 hours per week. We work with successful candidates to create program schedules that are flexible and based on creating the best learning timeframe for participants.
Instructors with multiple skill sets are able to teach multiple programs. Instructor contracts and time commitments are decided in consultation with staff and contracts are created accordingly.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills in order to follow directions, prepare reports, take attendance and interact with clients. Proficient level of technology use with software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Experience using Microsoft Teams and leading online programs considered an asset.
Standard First Aid with CPR-C is preferred and dependent on program requirements.
Leadership skills and experience working with Adults 19 years of age and older, and Adults 55 years of age and older are requirements of this position.
All staff must complete mandatory training prior to the start of program, training is offered through a combination of online and in-person learning.
Police Check Requirement
This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening at their own expense.
