Reporting to the City Clerk, the successful candidate will be part of the team that provides administrative support to Standing Committees and Citizen Advisory Committees to Council. This position provides an excellent opportunity to experience the diversity of functions completed by the Office of the City Clerk and offers a unique perspective into the Corporation and working with members of City Council.
The Committee Assistant supports our Committee Clerks to ensure that accurate agendas, minutes, and correspondence are produced in a timely fashion and that committee needs are met. This position is also responsible for logistical support to committees and their events, departmental projects, and providing backup coverage to the Administrative Assistant to the City Clerk. This position also assists every four years with the City of Burlington municipal election where required.
The successful candidate will have a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Political Science, Business Administration or related field. Two (2) years of experience in a municipal office environment is required. In this role, the candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills as attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. While many deadlines are known in advance, time management and computer skills will ensure tasks are completed on time. Attendance at some evening meetings may be required.
