Description
Position Overview:
The City of Burlington is accepting applications for new Summer Program Leaders for the following camp areas:

Summer Neighborhood Activity Program (S.N.A.P) – Inclusive day camp program for children aged 4-10 years.

Youth Adventures – Inclusive programs for youth aged 9-14 years.

Playground Activities – Pop-Up and Play and other Playground programs

Van Driver – Deliver camp supplies and materials to various locations. Support for all camp sections as needed.
Summer Program Leaders report to the Recreation Programmer or the Recreation Coordinator and work at various locations throughout Burlington. Positions run from July to the end of August, with occasional training hours in May and June. Hours worked are anywhere from 0-40 hours per week with a maximum of 44. Please note that positions and schedules may vary based on program registrations and regulations around the current health situation.
Responsibilities:
Summer Program Leaders are responsible for planning and implementing creative and varied programs to meet the needs and interests of all participants. Successful applicants will be responsible for the safety and supervision of participants both on and offsite and are expected to implement and participate in activities. Summer Program Leaders will assist with all aspects of camp while providing and coordinating a high-quality program. As an inclusive program for all abilities, all staff must be prepared to support all participants, including individuals with disabilities. Certain positions may require administrative support and/ or supervision of other program staff.
Requirements:
All staff must attend Mandatory Training prior to the start of camp. The majority of training will occur throughout May and June with a combination of online and in-person training events planned.
In addition to training, all staff must have the following prior to the start of camp.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification
- HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development
- A criminal record check including a vulnerable sector search, at their own expense.
Police Check Requirement:
This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check at their own expense.
Hourly Rate:
Program Leaders are compensated at a Grade 3 level with a payrate of $16.62 per hour. Senior Leaders are compensated at a Grade 4 level with a payrate of $18.89 per hour.
