Reporting to the Chief Building Official (CBO)/Director of Building and By-Law, this position oversees the operation of the Building Inspection Section and assists the Chief Building Official (CBO) in the administration and enforcement of the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code. The incumbent also manages all aspects related to building site inspections ensuring compliance with legislated requirements such as the Building Code Act (BCA), Ontario Building Code (OBC), Ontario Fire Code (OFC), National Standards (NFPA, ULC, CSA) and Ministry of Labour (Occupational Health and Safety Act).
Specifically, the Manager of Building Inspections and Deputy CBO will:
As a qualified applicant, you have successfully completed a degree or diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a closely related field. Qualified as a “Building Official - Supervisor/Manager” with the MMAH, you also possess qualifications in CBO Legal, Small Buildings, Large Buildings, Building Structural, Complex Buildings and Building Services. In addition, a sound knowledge of building construction is required. The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through significant related experience at the municipal level and in the construction and building inspection / enforcement industry, with at least three years in a supervisory capacity. Proven leadership skills are complemented by project management, change management and a track record of building collaborative partnerships. Effective communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are also essential. Previous experience using AMANDA databases will be highly beneficial.
